A Second Passover Helping
It's the most wonderful time of the (Jewish) year!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And by that, of course, I mean Passover. Aside from all the being delivered from slavery, the real reason to celebrate Passover this year is that it is the first holiday we will discuss a second time (hurray for us heroes).
But to start things off, I tell the Rabbi and ChayaLeah about the hilarious, low-level anti-semitism I experienced at the airport during a recent business trip.
From there, we go into…well, sort of everything. I’d be lying if I said this is strictly a Passover episode, which made it even more interesting.
We discuss the booming business of Passover hotels and cruises, Passover traditions, the nuances of freedom of speech in Judaism, the concept of the Messiah, and challenges Jews might have in accepting one, and the impact of faith versus evidence in understanding Jewish history.
We close out our conversation by discussing some of the Haggadah's controversial aspects, particularly the call for retribution and the ongoing debate surrounding the consumption of kitniyot during Passover.
Also, if you’re a new listener who hasn’t listened to our old episodes and wants to catch up on the two Passover episodes we did last year, where we covered more of the holiday fundamentals, I’ve attached them here…
Chag Sameach, everyone!
